I'm using Ubuntu 8.04. This isn't a problem in Windows unless I use my monitor calibration system (but even then it's more a dithering problem). I have a GeForce 6200 card which is pretty new out of the box. I have an old Dell CRT (UltraScan P780). Having same problem as this guy: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/852322.html Smearing to the right of bright objects on screen. It happens with Ubuntu, and not Windows. And I don't think it's a monitor issue because when I zoom in with Compiz the smears get bigger ie: They scale with other pixels (the smears get jaggies). And I've had 2 graphics cards that this has happened to. An older GeForce card and a newer one (my 6200). However I think my monitor has some contribution to the problem because when I turn it on first thing in the morning it's really bright (like the brightness or gamma is turned up) and as it warms up it gets darker (normal colors). I'm not sure if that's part of the problem or a problem the monitor has all on its own.
